FDM Honors CKT Season Champions and Podium Finishers
Another successful Colorado Karting Tour season in the books for Forward Direction Motorsports. Highlighted by multiple championships and podium finishes, FDM would like to recognize our drivers for their exceptional performances and consistent results.
Starting with our youngest drivers, Kid Kart driver Nico Cueto finished the year 2nd in the championship and logged a total of 2 wins on the season. Nico moves up into the Micro Max category and will look to be competitive from the first round. Nico’s older brother Pedro ran in the MicroMax category and logged 1 win on the way to 5th in the championship standings. Pedro moves into the MiniMax class next year.
In Jr1 Briggs, consistency was key for Austin Steinke who ended the year with a strong P2 in the championship after recording 3 podium finishes. Austin’s teammate Sebastian Johnson rounded out the season podium with a 3rd place result, even after missing a round of competition.
In MiniMax, Sebastian Johnson was able to capture the championship with 3 wins and 6 total podium results. Seb will continue in MiniMax competition next year, so look for this driver to aim to capture a second straight championship. Teammate Haley Stone rounded out the MiniMax podium in 3rd place after logging 5 podium finishes. Haley moves up into the 100cc JR category next year.
Next up is the Briggs categories of Jr. 2 and LO206 light. In Briggs Jr.2 FDM supported driver Nikkos Guillen was able to capture the championship in his first year in the category. Nikkos secured 4 wins which solidified his position at the top. Next year Nikkos will be back in Jr. 2 to try and repeat, while also adding a KA100 Jr kart to the mix.
In LO206 Light, Cayden O’Connor picked up two wins on his way to second in the overall standings. The championship fight came down to the last round, where an unfortunate shortened event and a lost chain took Cayden out of championship hopes. Teammate Spencer Currie picked up 4th in the championship after grabbing his first CKT win during Round 5 at Pikes Peak.
In the highly competitive KA100 SR category, FDM showed their strength by winning 6 of 8 rounds, with 5 of those wins coming from series champion Cayden O’Connor. Cayden had an impressive season aboard his Pantano chassis logging multiple pole positions, heat race wins, and 5 final victories. Cayden only finished off the podium one time, showing true consistency at the top of the field.
The strength of the team is driven home with a 1-2 punch by Trooper Sanchez finishes second in the standings. Trooper was a consistent front runner and podium finisher solidifying his second place in the championship. Teammate Robbie Settle made it 3 FDM drivers in the top 4 with a 4th in the championship results.
